Smith finds net for rampant Lewes

On target: Lewes strikerJonté Smith

Jonté Smith, the Bermuda striker, found the net in Lewes’ 5-1 hammering of Ashford United in the Bostik League South Division yesterday.

The Bermuda striker was substituted in the 75th minute for table-topping Lewes.

Lewes’ other scorers were James Hammond, George Landais and a brace from Jamie Brotherton. Andrew Dalhouse replied for Ashford.

Reggie Lambe was substituted late on as Carlisle United drew 3-3 away to Newport County in the Sky Bet League Two yesterday.

Matt Dolan scored two stunning free kicks to earn a point for Newport in a frenetic second half at Rodney Parade.

Shawn McCoulsky’s cool lob after goalkeeper Jack Bonham had spilt the ball gave Newport an interval lead.

But Carlisle were ahead within six minutes of the restart as Luke Joyce capitalised on a defensive mêlée and Kelvin Etuhu fired-in spectacularly.

Dolan pulled Newport level and repeated the trick after Tom Miller had headed past a bemused Joe Day for Carlisle.

Newport drop to twelfth place in League Two while Carlisle remain fourteenth.
