Eleven coaches, including six who are Bermuda Football Association National Academy coaches, will travel to Glasgow, Scotland, this weekend to participate in the final phase of the Uefa B licence.

As part of the BFA Coach Licensing programme, which requires senior coaches to have the Bermuda B licence by the new deadline date of January 31, the coaches will participate in the weeklong course delivered by the Scottish FA

They include Vance Brown, Naquita Robinson and Zayna Foggo, coaches of the Bermuda girls’ teams, and Cecoy Robinson and Aaron Lugo, who coached an under-14 team in the Caribbean Football Union Challenge Series in the Cayman Islands in August.

Ray Jones, the Bermuda assistant coach, who holds a Bermuda B licence, will also make the trip.

“The BFA guidelines stipulate coaches must have a Bermuda B licence to coach in the Premier, First and Expansion League,” David Sabir, the BFA general secretary, said.

“Similarly, National Academy coaches are required to have a Bermuda B licence.

“As employees of the BFA Academy, coaches have been given the opportunity to meet the required licence. They have been given the same stipulation as Premier, First and Expansion Division coaches. That is, they must have the required licence by August 31 or be enrolled in a relevant course.

“They will depart Bermuda to sit the final phase of the B licence. If successful they will be retained as Academy coaches.”

The group will be accompanied by course manager Richard Todd, the Bermuda Football Coaches Association president. The coaches will return on November 4.
