Tre Ming is expected to be available for Bermuda’s next outing in the Concacaf Nations League against Mexico.

The PHC midfielder had been doubtful after going off injured during Bermuda’s historic win away to Panama last weekend.

Ming jarred his knee in a tackle early in the second half and was replaced by Willie Clemons, the Bodens BK player.

He exited the airport terminal in a wheelchair upon Bermuda’s return from Panama on Monday night, but has since had further treatment and been granted clearance to resume playing.

“Tre went to the doctor and has been given the all clear to return back to activities,” Kyle Lightbourne, the Bermuda coach, said.

“It was a slight jarring of the knee and probably a little soreness and stiffness and now he should be back in training.”

Ming was one of four changes to Bermuda’s squad for last Sunday’s contest against Panama at the Rommel Fernández Stadium from the one that suffered a 4-1 home defeat against the same opposition three days earlier at the National Stadium.

Meanwhile, Lightbourne also provided an update on the health status of forward Lejuan Simmons, who was an unused substitute in the second match against Panana.

The Robin Hood player was helped off the pitch following a challenge for the ball with the goalkeeper during Bermuda’s Nations League opener at home on September 5.

“He (Lejuan) was available, but we just went with fresh legs,” Lightbourne, the former Walsall and Coventry City striker, said.

“He had pulled up with cramp when he went in with the goalkeeper trying to get there before him.

“That’s the amount of effort that they put in that game so your body will be feeling it.

“But he recovered. He trained and done everything. It was just we have fresh legs and it was actually nice to utilise the squad.”

Goals by Nahki Wells either side of the interval guided Bermuda to a 2-0 win over Panama, who are placed 74th in the Fifa world rankings, 100 positions above Lightbourne’s team.

Bermuda are second behind Panama on goal difference in group B of League A after two matches, with Mexico yet to play.

Lightbourne’s team face Gold Cup champions Mexico at home on October 11 and away on November 19.
