Bascome and Darlington part ways

Heading to the United States: Osagi Bascome

Osagi Bascome has left Darlington by mutual agreement, the club has confirmed.

“We’d like to thank Osagi for his help during his time with us, and would like to wish him all the best for the future,” a statement read.

It is understood that Bermuda midfielder is seeking new opportunities in the United States.

Bascome joined the English non-League side, who play in the Vanarama National League North, the sixth tier of English football, in March of 2019.

He went on to make 16 appearances for the County Durham outfit and will be best remembered for his stoppage-time free kick away to Walsall in the FA Cup that led to Joe Wheatley’s equalising goal.

Prior to joining Darlington, Bascome played at the regional level in Spain for Massanassa and also had a short spell at Sky Bet Championship side Bristol City, where he did not make a first-team appearance.

The son of national cricket coach Herbie Bascome is a product of the Aston Villa Academy and had stints playing youth football at Spanish sides Levante and Valencia.

Bascome was a member of Bermuda’s squad that competed at the Concacaf Gold Cup and Concacaf Nations League last year.
