David Bascome says it is a “huge” honour to be inducted in the Baltimore Blast Hall of Fame.The former North Village and Bermuda midfielder is among a trio of new inductees that will be enshrined in the club’s Hall of Fame during a ceremony to be held at halftime of the Blast’s home match against Rochester Lancers at Towson University’s SECU Arena tomorrow.Bascome netted 81 goals in 117 appearances and also won three championships with Major Arena Soccer League side Blast between 2003 and 2008.“It’s huge because when you’ve got a franchise that’s been around since 1980 you’ve got a lot of history and you have to be honoured by it,” Bascome told The Royal Gazette.“You’re looking at close to forty years and the players that passed through and to be on that list and on that banner with guys who actually have a stakehold, not only in Baltimore football, but also the community is huge.”The remaining inductees are former Blast defender Lee Tschantret and former trainer Marty McGinty.“This group is one of the best of our great tradition of hall of famers,” Ed Hale, the Baltimore Blast owner, said. “Each one of them brought something special to our team on and off the field.”Gianni Tumminello, the club’s Vice President of soccer operations, added: “David and Lee’s contributions to the Blast and the game of indoor soccer are well known and it’s great to see them take their spot in the Blast Hall of Fame.”To honour the occasion, the players on the Blast’s present rosetr will don Retro 1983-84 jerseys that will be auctioned off at the end of the night.A Legends Reunion Game will also be held before the Hall of Fame activities commence and will feature more than a dozen notable players.Bascome remains actively involved with the Blast as an assistant to head coach Danny Kelly.
