Ajani Burchall opened his official scoring account at new club Aston Villa in a big way at the weekend.

The Bermudian netted a hat-trick in his team’s ruthless 10-0 rout of Norwich City in the Under-18 Premier League at Bodymoor Heath on Saturday.

Burchall grabbed his first since joining Villa from Sky Bet Championship side Bournemouth and first on the day in the 38th minute.

The winger stole the ball from the Norwich backline before firing past goalkeeper Jayden St Paul to earn the hosts a commanding 6-0 cushion at the half.

The 16-year-old doubled his tally shortly after play resumed when he calmly finished off a one-on-one against St Paul to capitalise on a counter-attack.

Burchall then buried Taylor-Jay Hart’s cross in the 83rd minute to complete his hat-trick and Villa’s first league win of the season.

The former Bermuda Under-15 forward was one of two Villa players securing hat-tricks in the lopsided contest as lone striker Dewain Sewell in a 4-1-4-1 formation also achieved the feat.

Hart bagged a brace while Kahrel Reddin and Aaron O’Reilly netted a goal apiece.

Villa are sixth in the Under-18 Premier League South, three points adrift of leaders Chelsea, who top the standings on goal difference over Southampton, Arsenal, Crystal Palace and Fulham.

Burchall joined Villa from Bournemouth last month after turning down a scholarship offer from the latter club in February to pave the way for a free transfer.
