Nesbeth and Florida State maintain perfect start to the season

LeiLanni Nesbeth and her Florida State team-mates extended their winning start to the soccer season in the National Collegiate Athletics Association’s Division 1 to five with a 5-2 win over Florida Gators in front of a packed crowd of 2,552 at the Seminole Soccer Complex on Thursday night.

It was Florida who took lead after just ten minutes through Kit Loferski’s third goal of the season.

Florida State equalised a minute later through a Jaelin Howell penalty after Jody Brown was fouled.

The Seminoles then took the lead through Beata Olsson against her former team.

A third followed in the 30th minute courtesy of Clara Robbins who from 20 yards to complete a move that also involved Jaelin Howell and Kirsten Pavlisko.

Florida State then made it 4-1 in the 49th minute when Olsson netted her second.

Nesbeth helped create the opening for the fifth goal in the 78th minute when she was fouled from behind inside the box by Madison Young. A second penalty was converted, this time by Robbins for her second goal of the match.

Florida pulled one back in the 90th minute through Shaye Seyffart.
