Despite there being four matches in the 2022 Fifa World Cup on Tuesday, those games may not have been as hotly contested as those at the Bermuda School Sports Federation Primary School girls six-a-side tournament.

Warwick Academy came away with the title after defeating Saltus Grammar School 5-0 in the final, with Devi Samuels and Naomi MacGuinness scoring two goals each and Isla Peters also chipping in with the other.

Warwick were fortunate to make the final as they needed a penalty shootout to overcome Bermuda High School in the semi-final after the match ended in a tense 1-1 draw.

MacGuinness scored for Warwick while Gemma Healy scored for BHS to send the match into a penalty shootout. BHS had their first spot-kick saved while Warwick converted all five in an exciting 5-4 shootout. Saltus defeated Somersfield Academy 4-0 in their semi-final with Avery Haldeman bagging all four goals for the Knights.

Haldeman scored twice while Zara Soutter added another in Saltus Grammar’s 3-0 win over Mount Saint Agnes, while Somersfield Academy got by Elliot Primary 2-0 with goals from Stella Hemman and Anya-Aeleishe Pearman in their quarter-final match up.
