Dale Eve put in some solid work on his debut for non-league side Hanley Town in a 1-1 draw at home to Clitheroe in the Northern Premier League West at Payaro Stadium on Saturday.

The national team goalkeeper held his own between the posts as his new side came from behind to salvage a vital point against their high-flying opponents.

Eve and his fellow team-mates were forced to chase the game after Sefton Gonzales put Clitheroe ahead in the 39th minute but Hanley’s persistence paid off when Jayden Cotterill equalised in the 62nd minute to earn his team a share of the spoils.

Eve was handed his debut just 24 hours after joining the club, who are based in Stoke-on-Trent, on dual-registration terms from Hereford FC.

Hanley is the second club Eve has played for this season under such terms after lacing up for Pitching Southern League Premier Division Central side Bedford Town.

The 27-year-old was one of two Bermudians making their debut with new clubs on Saturday as national team team-mate Reggie Lambe did likewise for AFC Sudbury in 1-0 defeat at home to Lowestoft Town in the Isthmian League North Division.

Adam Hipperson scored the 70th minute winner from the penalty to snap league leaders Sudbury’s ten-game winning streak.

Lambe joined Sudbury from league rivals Stowmarket Town 24 hours earlier and made his debut at Mel Group Stadium on his 31st birthday.

Nahki Wells registered an assist in Bristol City’s hard fought 2-1 win away to Preston End North in the Sky Bet Championship at Deepdale Stadium on Saturday.

The Bermuda captain set up his team’s second goal after timing his run superbly to get in behind the defence and whip in a cross which Sam Bell converted at the back post on the stroke of half-time.

Mark Sykes gave Bristol CIty the lead in the seventh minute when he intercepted a weak back pass, rounded the goalkeeper and slotted into the empty net.

Tempers flared in the 63rd minute when Wells pushed Preston left back Gregory Cunningham to the ground after earning a free-kick which ignited a mêlée.

The 32-year-old striker was subsequently booked and substituted five minutes later to hand winger Harry Cornick his debut after he joined the club from Luton Town earlier in the week.

Ched Evans pulled one back for the hosts in the 61st minute but City held on to secure their first win at Preston in 12 years.
