Milan Butterfield suffers defeat on Stourbridge debut

Milan Butterfield made debut for new club Stourbridge last weekend

Milan Butterfield got off to a disappointing start to life at Stourbridge after suffering a 2-1 defeat away to AFC Telford United in the Southern League Premier Division Central.

The Bermuda midfielder sealed a move to the West Midlands-based club last week from Nuneaton Borough, who were forced to pull out from the league due financial struggles.

However, it was not the debut Butterfield would have desired as Stourbridge let slip a goal lead after Alex Prosser’s had put them ahead on the hour mark, with United striking twice in the final ten minutes to complete the turnaround and snatch all three points.

There was a better result for compatriot Reggie Lambe, who played the entire match in Braintree Town’s 2-1 victory away to Truro City in the Vanarama National League South.

After a goalless first half, Jayden Davis finally broke the deadlock for Town in the 64th minute, with Alfie Pavey doubling Braintree’s advantage six minutes later.

Andrew Neal reduced the deficit with nine minutes remaining, but there was to be no comeback as Braintree held on to extend their unbeaten run of form to three matches.

There was also joy for Keziah Martin as his Boston United side sealed victory on the road, beating South Shields 2-1 in the National League North.

Jacob Hazel proved the United hero, with his two goals coming either side of a Dillon Morse strike.

In the same division, Kole Hall continued his recovery from injury by starting in Chester’s goalless draw away to King’s Lynn Town.

Elsewhere Bermuda goalkeeper Dale Eve helped Malsall Wood claim a share of the spoils in a 1-1 draw at home to Cambridge City in the Northern Premier League Division One.
