Kole Hall helped new club Scarborough Athletic earn a point in a hard-fought goalless draw away to Buxton in Vanarama National League North on Saturday.

After signing on loan from league rivals Chester for the remainder of the season a day previously, the Bermuda striker played the entire match as the sides settled for a share of the spoils.

Elsewhere, Nahki Wells could not prevent Bristol City slipping to a 1-0 defeat at home to Cardiff City in the Sky Bet Championship.

In a match of very few chances, defender Perry Ng scored the winner in the 66th minute, rising above Joe Williams to head the ball low beyond the helpless Max O'Leary.

Bristol City were left frustrated late on when Tommy Conway turned the ball home only to be denied by an offside flag.

It was a third successive league defeat for Bristol City, which leaves them in thirteenth in the table after being just four points adrift of the play-off places before the poor run of form which also included losses to Queens Park Rangers and Sheffield Wednesday.

There was also disappointment for Keziah Martin as his Boston United side went down to a 2-1 defeat at home to Spennymoor Town in the National League.

Corey McKeown and Ben Pollock put the away side into a two-goal lead before Spenymoor goalkeeper saved two second-half penalties, denying both Martin Woods and Deji Sotona from the spot.

Jai Rowe reduced the deficit deep into additional time, but Boston were ultimately left to rue missed opportunities.

In National League South, Justin Donawa helped Chorley get back to winning ways in a 2-1 victory over Rushall Olympic.

The Bermuda forward, on loan from National League club Altrincham, played the full 90 minutes as first-half goals from Jack Hazlehurst and Mark Ellis, sandwiched either side of a Max Dearnley own goal, sealed all three points.

Reggie Lambe came on as a second-half substitute as Braintree Town settled for a share of the spoils in a 2-2 draw with Welling United in National League South.

All the goals came in the opening 45 minutes, with Jack Burchell putting Welling ahead in the tenth minute before Aaron Blair levelled in the 38th minute.

Reece Grant put the home side back ahead from the spot in the 45th minute, only for Shaq Coulthirst to equalise with a penalty of his own four minutes into additional time.
