Fisher first in age group in BC 10K

Veteran Bermuda road runner Eddie Fisher battled near freezing conditions to take first place in the 60-64 age group at Sunday’s River Run Off 10K in Kamploos, British Columbia.

With snow on the ground and in temperatures of 44 degrees, Fisher crossed the line in 20th position overall in a field of 165 in a time of 42 minutes and five seconds just 18 seconds ahead of highly ranked Canadian Roly Muller (42.23) and another top age group athlete, Leo Rankin (42.31).

Eleven male runners took part in the 60-64 division.

The race is part of the Canadian Tire, Timex watch-sponsored series.

Overall race winner was John Machuge in 33.35 while first female was Riki-Lynn Boettcher in 43.12.
