Super Sprint Series starts

The Super Sprint Triathlon Series, for beginners and experienced competitors alike, gets under way again on May 17th at 6.30pm at Clearwater Beach and will continue on May 31 after the May 24th break.

“The series is designed to introduce new people to triathlon with the 200m swim taking just off the beach in shallow water, allowing participants to walk or rest if necessary,” the Bermuda Triathlon Association said, “The 8km bike is a three-loop course on clear and largely traffic-free roads leading out of the beach area to a turnaround cone. The 1.6km run is a loop course in the park area.

“Individuals can opt to do just a part of the course or a shorter bike and walking or stopping to rest is considered normal. Any type of bike in good working order, a proper pedal bike helmet that clips up, swim suit, shorts — if you wish for the bike and run — and a pair of running sneakers are the minimum requirements. There is a small cash entry fee.

In the wake of Flora’s success, local triathletes are asked to encourage friends, work colleagues and family to join the fun at Clearwater with more experienced triathletes there to help beginners set up and explain transitions etc ...”
