Mallory loses doubles semi-final

Final hurdle: Trey Mallory made it to the semi-finals of the doubles and second round of the singles competition

Trey Mallory reached the semi-finals of the boys’ doubles at the JS Montego Bay Junior Jamaica Cup on Friday.

The Bermudian teenager and his partner Russell Armstrong, of the US Virgin Islands, lost 6-3, 6-2 to Nicolas Cortes Campos, of Colombia, and Jayden Templeman, of Canada.

Mallory and Armstrong defeated Agustin Ivan Damiano, of Argentina, and Andy Zhu, of Canada, 2-6, 6-2 (10-4) in the quarter-finals after beating Chukwudumebi and Onyedikachukwu Smarty, of the United States 6-2, 6-4 in the first round.

In the singles competition, Mallory advanced to the second round, losing to Matthew Robinson, of the US, 6-3, 6-1.

Mallory beat Cole McNair, of Jamaica, in the first round 6-0, 6-1.
