Jack Harvey heading into World Aquatics Championships in good form
Jack Harvey will carry Bermuda’s medal hopes alone on his shoulders at the World Aquatics Championships in Singapore.
The Olympic swimmer is competing in the backstroke events among a world-class field and is heading into the championships in peak form.
“Bermuda is proud to be represented by Olympian Jack Harvey at the World Aquatics Championships in Singapore,” national coach Ben Smith said.
“Although scheduling conflicts prevented other national team members from attending, Jack is carrying the Bermuda flag with pride as our sole competitor at this world-class event.
“Jack will be competing in the backstroke events. He has settled in quickly, adjusted well to the time zone and is in peak physical condition. His energy and focus are high, and he is ready to produce fast swims on the world stage.”
Harvey will launch his campaign in the 100 metres backstroke on Monday and return to the pool three days later for the 200 backstroke. His final event will be the 50 backstroke scheduled for August 2.
“We’re confident in his preparation and are excited to see him compete at the highest level,” Smith said.
“We wish Jack the very best and thank him for his continued dedication to Bermuda swimming.”
Harvey will continue his international competition schedule at the Junior Pan American Games in Paraguay next month.
