Jack Harvey ends campaign at World Aquatics Championships
Swimmer Jack Harvey has completed his campaign at the World Aquatics Championship in Singapore.
Harvey ended his championships by finishing seventh of the ten competitors in heat four of the men’s 50 metres backstroke on Saturday behind Mexican Marcus Reyes-Gentry.
The 22-year-old’s time of 25.55sec was 0.34 outside Harvey’s national record and good enough for 40th place overall in the event.
The 50 metres backstroke was the last of three events for the young Bermuda swimmer, who also competed in the 100 and 200 metres backstroke.
In his first race on Monday, Harvey finished seventh in heat three of the 100 metres backstroke in 55.40sec, touching the wall 1.23sec behind heat winner Finn Harland of New Zealand.
He also competed in the 200 metres backstroke on Thursday, with his time of 2:01.50 good enough for fourth place behind Inbar Danziger, of Israel, in heat two and 32nd overall.
Harvey will now be hoping to get some rest as he flies through the time zones to compete at the Junior Pan American Games in Paraguay next week, where he is likely to take part in the opening ceremony is Asuncion on Saturday.
That takes place in the heart of the South American country the day before the swimming meet starts on Sunday, August 10, with Bermuda set to be represented by Harvey, Sam Williamson, Elijah Daley and Marleigh Howes in the pool.
