Three Bermudian swimmers are taking part at the Pan Pacific Swimming Championships in Irvine, California, starting today.

Emma Harvey, her brother Jack, and Madelyn Moore will be hitting the water at the William Woollett Jr Aquatics Centre until Saturday. The three are listed on USA Swimming’s preliminary start list for the long course event.

Jack Harvey, who won two medals at the Central American and Caribbean Games in the Dominican Republic, is registered for the men’s 50-metre freestyle, 50 backstroke, 100 backstroke, and 200 backstroke.

Emma Harvey is down for the women’s 50 freestyle, 50 backstroke, 100 backstroke, 50 butterfly, and 100 butterfly.

Moore is scheduled to take part in the women’s 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 50 backstroke, and 50 butterfly.

The championships were last held in Tokyo, Japan, in 2018, where Bermuda did not have any representation.

In 2022, the event was cancelled due to Covid-19 pandemic complications. With this edition of the Pan Pacs falling in an Olympic cycle, this year provides a perfect platform for coaches and athletes to set a foundation for the LA28 Olympic Games.

For Bermuda’s trio, it is a chance to test themselves against top regional and international competition ahead of future qualification campaigns.
