Swimmer Emma Harvey has produced some spectacular performances to set four national records in the pool.

Harvey broke records in the 50 and 100 metres backstroke and the 50 and 100 metres butterfly at the World Short Course Championship Trials in Chicago, Illinois.

The Olympian, who represented Bermuda at the 2024 Games in Paris, first took seven-tenths of a second off the 50 metres backstroke mark set by Kiera Aitken in Spain in 2009. On her way to finishing eighth in the final, Harvey posted a record of 27.02 sec.

Not content with smashing one of Aitken’s records, Harvey took another one in the 100 metres backstroke, knocking more than a second off Aitken’s time of 59.31 by touching the wall in 58.01, finishing seventh overall.

The record of 27.07 set by Elan Daley just days earlier in the 50 metres butterfly was next to fall, with Harvey clocking 26.25 as she finished eleventh overall in the event.

She then broke her own record of 59.45 by nearly a second in the 100 metres butterfly, setting a new mark of 59.62.
