Zlatko Zahirović, cofounder and chief technology officer of Paradise Mobile will help guide the technical strategy for how mobile devices function across North America, as the newly-appointed deputy chair of the GSMA North America Terminals Working Group.

The GSMA represents the interests, and drives international standards, for the 750 mobile network operators and also represents 400 associate members or broader industry players.

The Terminals Working Group brings together global tech giants, phone manufacturers, microchip creators and telecom carriers to ensure devices and mobile networks work well together.

As deputy chair of the group’s regional branch, Mr Zahirović will help lead high-level collaborations, directly shaping the everyday mobile experience, software behaviour and roaming capabilities for millions of users.

A Paradise statement said: “Leadership positions within global standards groups are typically held by much larger international operators and technology companies. This appointment is a testament to the strong reputation Mr Zahirović and his engineering team have earned.

“While building Bermuda’s most advanced network, Paradise has successfully solved complex tech challenges, including enabling international phone variants to connect perfectly to local networks.”

He commented: “It’s an honour to represent Paradise Mobile and Bermuda in a role that directly influences the future of mobile technology across North America.

“Most people don’t realise how much coordination happens behind the scenes just to ensure a smartphone works perfectly when you turn it on, activate a plan or travel abroad.

“Our focus in this group is to cut through the complexity, making devices more reliable, easier to use and faster to adopt next-generation features.

“Bringing Bermuda’s unique perspective to this international stage allows us to champion better connectivity for everyday users everywhere.”

Mr Zahirović recently shared his tech expertise at the second annual Build conference in Bermuda and presented at the GSMA North America working group.
