Fairmont Southampton helps spread holiday cheer

A Christmas party for senior Bermudians just celebrated its 26th year in action.

With carols, a senior choir and a free lunch at the Fairmont Southampton Hotel, yesterday's traditional festive luncheon was a resounding success for its 400 guests.

Participants were invited through the Island-wide Social Committee and the Bermuda Senior Islanders' Centre at Admirality House.

The holiday lunch and entertainment is sponsored by the Fairmont Southampton.

Fred Hassell of the Senior Islanders' Centre thanked the hotel on behalf of the seniors of Bermuda.

“Today was a very special day for these people and the event really brought the magic of Christmas alive,” he said.

Fairmont Bermuda sales and marketing director Shelley Meszoly called it the hotel's way of giving back to the community and recognising Bermuda's growing elderly population.

She said: “The party was a lot of fun, and it was heartwarming to see the big smiles on the faces of the seniors as they arrived at the hotel to celebrate the Christmas season.”

Glamourous Granny 2010 Dorothy Morrissey and Fairmont Southampton Hotel General Manager Norm Mastalir get into the festive season with a dance when more than 400 seniors where treated to a festive luncheon hosted by the hotel.
