Bermuda makes a splash in Big Apple
New Yorkers received a small taste of Bermuda in the heart of the city.
Bermuda Department of Tourism hosted “Experience Bermuda Day” at Grand Central Terminal’s Vanderbilt Hall.
Local musicians and gombeys were on hand at the event, which was decorated by pink Vespa scooters.
Attendees were able to win a Bermuda vacation.
Said Tourism Minister Wayne Furbert: “This event is a great way to bring a taste of Bermuda to our largest market and, in turn, encourage consumers to come by the Island and experience it for themselves.”
Also yesterday, Mr Furbert was interviewed at a luncheon by members of New York’s media about Bermuda.
A dozen journalists from publications including ‘Bride’, ‘Conde Nast Traveler’, ‘Departures’ and ‘Forbes Life’ were at the event, according to a Ministry statement.
Mr Furbert said: “I was pleased to hear very strong feedback and interest from the media about Bermuda.
“The media with whom we met represented some of North America’s most influential outlets and it was an important opportunity to stimulate their interest in covering our Island.”
