Four students take part in David Allen internship

Bermudian students will again be working with the Department of Tourism and its international marketing agencies as part of the David Allen Memorial Internship Programme.

A total of four students will take part in the programme, established 15 years ago to provide young Bermudians with eight weeks of hands-on experience in the industry.

Tourism Minister Shawn Crockwell said this week that Alton Roberts, Kharis Brooks, Simon Benevides and Tiffany Shanchez will be participating in the programme.

Mr Roberts, who is currently enrolled at the University of the West of England, United Kingdom and pursuing a major in Tourism Management, will be working with Bermuda’s New York Advertising Agency Fuseideas.

Ms Brooks, also a student at University of the West of England, United Kingdom will be working with Lou Hammond and Associates. She is currently pursuing a major in Marketing Communications.

Mr Benevides, who is studying at the University of Guelph, Canada and pursuing a major in Tourism Management, will be working with the Department of Tourism — New York Office.

And Ms Sanchez, presently studying at Johnson & Wales University, United States and majoring in Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Management, will be working with the Department of Tourism — Bermuda Office.

Mr Crockwell said: “These exceptional students are dedicated to their studies and plan to embark on a career in hospitality and the Department of Tourism will do all we can to ensure their success.

“I know they will gain valuable experience working in our offices in Bermuda and New York and with our Agencies Lou Hammond and Fuseideas and I look forward to seeing great things from them in the future.”
