Shawn Crockwell tackled on Bermuda Tourism Authority

No project management firm was hired by the Tourism Ministry to help set up the new Bermuda Tourism Authority, Minister Shawn Crockwell said on Friday.

Mr Crockwell explained that the Ministry set up an executive steering committee for the authority — which was in effect a board and CEO — and a project management office (PMO) as responsible for carrying out the transition from the Government-run Department of Tourism.

He said: “The PMO did engage various entities to assist with transition.”

He was speaking after Shadow Minister Zane DeSilva tabled a series of questions on the Tourism Authority and also asked for details of contracts and salaries.

Mr Crockwell said: “The request for specific information and details related to contracts should be directed to the Bermuda Tourism Authority.”

But — after calls from the Opposition side of the House, including one for a list of outside agencies contracted by the Tourism Authority — he said he would “bring a list of these entities to the House.”
