Top tourism award for young Bermudian
A young Bermuda Tourism Authority employee has earned an international leadership accolade for professionals under 30.
Leonard Williams, the BTA’s experience satisfaction coordinator, was named as of one of ’Destination International 2021 30 Under 30’.
Destination International, which represents destination organisations around the world, selects 30 individuals under the age of 30 each year to gain industry networking and leadership opportunities.
Mr Williams, 26, has been employed with the BTA since 2016 and recently completed the Fundamentals of Destination Management and Marketing Course through Destinations International in collaboration with George Washington University.
In his role within the BTA’s Experience Development Division, Mr Williams helps to develop and support on-island experiences as well as analysing survey data from BTA-supported events.
He also works to ensure visitor satisfaction and drive the development of future tourism programmes.

“Earning international accolades so early in his career is an indicator of the world-class drive and potential Leonard contributes to our team.
“My vision for the organisation is to ensure voices at all stages of their career are heard and valued. I join the BTA team members in congratulating Leonard on his professional achievements.”
Don Welsh, president and chief executive of Destinations International, added: “The 30 Under 30 programme remains critical to our organisation’s vision and mission.
“As our industry moves towards recovery, we are especially excited to announce these young professionals as they are the future of the travel and tourism industry.”
