A surge of occasional calls are expected to bolster the 2023 cruise ship season, according to a recently published draft schedule.

Of the record 222 cruise ship visits included on the schedule, only 94 are regular callers, which make at least a dozen calls over the course of the year, with the remaining 128 visits coming from occasional calls.

Five ships are classified as regular callers on the schedule with Norwegian Pearl, Vision of the Seas and Liberty of the Seas making the most calls with 21 each.

Meanwhile, the Norwegian Joy is scheduled to visit the island 19 times and Celebrity Summit will make 12 calls.

Of the regular callers, Norwegian Joy has the greatest capacity, with a maximum projected passenger load of 4,992.

Several other ships are also scheduled to make multiple visits to the island, including Norwegian Gem with 11 calls, Norwegian Getaway with nine calls, Disney Dream with nine calls and Norwegian Prima with eight calls.

Insignia, Mariner of the Seas and Meraviglia are each scheduled to visit the island five times, while Carnival Magic will make four visits.

Of the occasional callers, Odyssey of the Seas has the greatest visitor capacity, carrying a maximum of 5,510 passengers during its one visit to the island.

The bulk of the ships – including all five regular callers – are scheduled to stop in Dockyard, but Hamilton and St George’s will both have visits during the year.

A total of 24 visits to Hamilton are included in the schedule along with nine visits to St George’s, including eight ships scheduled to visit both ports.
