Cruise ship visits expected to increase in 2026
Bermuda is expected to see an increase in cruise ship visits next year, with more than 190 calls on the schedule.
While the recently published 2026 Cruise Ship Schedule is subject to change, it lists a total of 193 cruise ship visits over the course of next year including 120 visits from “regular callers” and 73 stops from “occasional callers”.
The schedule is busier than the 2025 schedule, which included a total of 180 cruise ship visits over the course of the year.
However, storm activity in the Atlantic among other factors forced the cancellation of 20 visits so far in 2025, causing the number of actual visits this year to be lower than scheduled.
The Norwegian Aqua is scheduled to be the most frequent visitor to the island over the course of the season, with 28 sailings between New York and Bermuda.
The ship is projected to bring 4,224 passengers per trip during the peak season and 3,530 passengers during shoulder-season visits.
The Norwegian Breakaway, meanwhile, will offer 25 sailings out of Boston, promising to bring 4,941 passengers per peak season visit and 3,963 during shoulder months.
The Independence of the Seas is scheduled to make 23 visits to the island, sailing out of New Jersey, while the Norwegian Jewel will make 20 trips between Bermuda and Philadelphia.
The Vision of the Seas and the Celebrity Silhouette fill out the list of frequent visitors with 18 calls and six calls respectively.
The vast majority of ships will exclusively visit Dockyard, with only six visits scheduled for Hamilton and two for St George’s.
It was previously announced that King’s Wharf in Dockyard would be out of operation at the start of 2026 as improvement works are carried out through a partnership with Norwegian Cruise Lines.
The first expected visit to the upgraded King’s Wharf is scheduled to take place on April 1, when the Norwegian Breakaway makes its second call of the year.
August is scheduled to be the busiest month, with 28 calls, followed by 27 in June and 25 in May and July, 24 in April and 23 in October.
No calls are scheduled for January, with the first visit of the year scheduled for February 21 and the last on December 20.
Figures released by the Bermuda Tourism Authority this week revealed that 431,164 cruise ship passengers visited this island in the first nine months of 2025, a 5.5 per cent decline from the 456,379 recorded in the same period of 2024.
However, the BTA said that 20,000 potential visitors were diverted away from the island as a result of storm-related cancellations.
