An international travel website has named Tobacco Bay the second best beach in the Caribbean, according to visitor reviews.

The St George’s beach came second in TripAdvisor.com’s Travellers’ Choice Awards for the Caribbean, topped only by Eagle Beach, Aruba, and was ranked 13th worldwide.

The website said: “Known among travellers as the ultimate fish-spotting haven, Tobacco Bay Beach offers calm, warm waters ringed by coral rocks — perfect for beginner snorkellers.

“With shallow waters in many areas and snorkel rental available, this beach is a great place for children too. Don't miss out on great views from the nearby beach bar.”

Dennie O’Connor, owner of the Tobacco Bay Beach Club, said the ranking showed that the hard work put into making the beach a destination was paying off.

“This isn't just a number,” he said. “It's a bold statement that we are stepping onto the world stage, not just competing locally but standing tall among the best beaches on the planet.

“My mindset has always been clear: we don’t measure ourselves by the shores next door, but by the global horizon. This recognition proves that our vision is real, that our hard work is paying off.

“The team has poured heart and soul into crafting a year-round experience that keeps raising the bar and the public’s enthusiastic support keeps us moving forward.”

Mr O’Connor said that more work was still to come, with hopes of introducing rooftop seating for 2027.

He added: “This next chapter will elevate the experience even further, inviting more to enjoy the breathtaking views and the magic of Tobacco Bay in a whole new way.

“TripAdvisor’s ranking is based on actual users, so the designation reflects a lived experience — whether visiting via cruise ship docked at the other end of the island in Dockyard or arriving by flight.
