Tourism ambassadors to boost Old Town visitor experiences
A visitor ambassador programme with a focus on the East End has been introduced by the Bermuda Tourism Authority.
Through the Bermuda Visitor Service Centre, representatives will be on board the Orange Route ferry service between Dockyard and St George’s.
“This enhanced route provides a significant boost for visitors travelling east, supporting longstanding calls from the St George’s community to drive traffic to attractions, businesses and properties within the Unesco World Heritage Site,” the BTA said.
The proposed schedule which runs through September, includes coverage Monday through Saturday on the 9.30am and 11.30am departures from Dockyard, with a return on the 2pm ferry from St George’s.
Positioned at the lower-level ferry kiosk, the ambassadors will engage directly with passengers, providing tailored recommendations and real-time guidance to enhance the complete on-island experience, with a particular focus on St George’s and the East End.
Jasmine Furbert, the BTA’s Director of Experiences, said: “Our goal is to make the visitor journey as smooth and effortless as possible by providing a friendly face with local knowledge at key moments of travel.”
Owen Darrell, the Minister of Tourism, Transport, Culture and Sport, added that the BTA, the Department of Marine and Ports Services and the ministry were working together, “enhancing connectivity, improving the visitor experience and supporting the continued growth of St George’s as a key pillar of Bermuda’s tourism offering”.
