Shianne Smith will look to qualify for this year’s World Championships at this weekend’s NACAC Combined Events competition in Jamaica having already reached the standard for the 2011 Pan Am Games.Ex-Bermuda triple jump legend Brian Wellman has accompanied both Smith and fellow heptathlete Andrea Jackson to the meet in Kingston, which is being held at the UWI/Usain Bolt Track.Jackson is also trying to qualify for the World Championships as well as the Pan Am Games and London Olympics.Triple jumper Latroya Darrell, University of Georgia, and long jumper Jasmine Brunson, Clemson University, will be competing in the NCAA qualifiers this weekend. Due to a hamstring injury, University of Georgia’s Aaron Evans is unable to compete in the qualifiers.
