Young Raelyn Robinson won a gold medal in the long jump at the Midwest Track & Field Championship in Cincinnati.

Robinson, aged just 7, produced a personal best of 3.20m at the Speed Capital Ohio Showcase to secure top spot on the podium.

Robinson competed in a total of three events and secured spots in the 100m and 200m finals, placing fourth in the Justin Gatlin 100m Dash Showcase and narrowly missing out on the podium by just 0.25sec in the 7-year old category.

“I’m really proud of myself,” Robinson said. “I love jumping and I love sprinting. I also like competing away because I get to meet a lot of new people.”

Robinson, who holds the under-6 Speed Capital New York MVP title, trains with the Bermuda Pacers Track Club and has more upcoming meets with the blub this summer in Toronto and North Carolina.

Robinson’s younger sister Reyna, aged 5, also competed in the under-6 category.

“I was a bit nervous but I was confidant and believed in myself,” she said.
