Government warns of bus cancellations due to ‘shortage of resources for student transportation’
The Government has warned of bus cancellations today due to “a shortage of resources for student transportation”.
It is expected that the Department of Public Transportation will provide a further update this afternoon.
In a statement sent at 9.36pm yesterday, the DPT said: “The Department of Public Transportation advises the public that there will be bus cancellations tomorrow morning due to a shortage of resources for student transportation.
“The department will redeploy buses to cover the minibus shortage to ensure that school students are transported safely and get to school on time. This will leave some routes not fully covered.
“The department is redirecting public bus transportation to minimise the impact on students who will begin examinations starting tomorrow.”
The statement added: “Public bus service will continue tomorrow throughout the day. The DPT will provide an update on the school transportation tomorrow afternoon.
“The department apologies for any inconveniences caused by the cancellations and urges commuters to make alternative arrangements.”
No mention was made of which bus routes would be cancelled and the statement did not explain why there is a minibus shortage.
