The Department of Marine and Ports is set to begin processing boat and mooring registrations for the first time in at least a month.

The Department has been unable to process registrations or accept payments since June 8 although the technical problems first started in May when all government computer systems crashed.

A spokeswoman said: “Last month, the Department of Marine and Ports advised that due to internal technical and data issues, the department could not process online and walk-in payments.

“The problems have been resolved and payments can be processed. All customers that were provided with a ‘Temporary Approval to Operate’ letter are required to attend the Boats and Moorings Section to make payment.

“The department wishes to thank the public for their patience.”

The new expiration date for registration has been extended for a second time to August 31, with late fees to commence on September 1.

The public can also contact the Boats and Moorings Section at the Department of Marine and Ports Services on 294-0419 or 294-0420 or e-mail boatsmoorings@gov.bm
