Woman seriously injured after crash between bike and car

Collision

A female motorcycle rider has been seriously injured in a two-vehicle collision early yesterday morning in Paget.

Police were alerted to the collision, between a motorcycle and a car, at about 1.40am on Middle Road near the junction with St Paul’s Lane.

A spokeswoman said two women riding the motorcycle were taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment, although their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

It is understood that one of the women had to have surgery after suffering from a severe leg injury. The second woman damaged a hand and suffered extensive road rash.

The male driver of the car was not reported to be injured.

Police said shortly after 3am that the road between the Paget stop lights and Valley Road was closed because of the seriousness of the incident.

Traffic diversions were in place to allow police to process the scene.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision is urged to call police at 211.
