Rider injured in Sandys collision

A motorcycle rider has been left with potentially serious injuries after a collision involving his vehicle and a car in Sandys.

Police said the collision occurred on Somerset Road, close to the junction with West Side Road, shortly after 3.30pm.

Early information suggested the rider was headed east when he attempted to overtake a truck, also travelling eastward, and struck a car being driven in the opposite direction.

The rider was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment of possible head injuries.

The man driving the car was not reported to be injured.

Traffic was diverted at Sound View Road and Bob’s Valley Road while police processed the scene.
