Government to provide course on driving heavy trucks

Heavy duty: the course is part of the Government’s drive to create more jobs

Bermudians seeking a career in driving heavy trucks can take advantage of a new course offered by the Department of Workforce Development.

Applicants must have a valid car driver's licence, a clean driving record and a TCD medical certificate valid for three months. They must also be able to commit to three or four day and evening training sessions.

Registration is through the Bermuda Job Board, and the deadline for applications is February 8. An open information session will be held at 5.30pm on February 15 at the Department of Workforce Development training room.

Jason Hayward, the Minister of Economy and Labour, said: “As part of the Government's commitment to build a resilient workforce and provide opportunities for Bermudians to pursue their goals, I am happy to announce this heavy truck driving course being offered through the Department of Workforce Development.

"This course allows participants to obtain a heavy truck licence to enhance their credentials and employability opportunities in the trucking industry, and I encourage anyone interested to apply."
