Government driver cleared after three-way crash

A government driver involved in a three-way collision was cleared of impaired driving after passing a breath test.

Police said that the 64-year-old, from Sandys, was driving a government van west along Middle Road, Warwick, when he was involved in a collision with two other vehicles travelling in the opposite direction.

The crash happened near Longford Road at about 3pm last Tuesday.

The government driver was unhurt, but was arrested under suspicion of impaired driving.

One of the drivers, a 59-year-old Southampton woman, was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for stiffness to her neck.

The other driver, a 66-year-old man from Smith’s, was treated at the scene for an abrasion to his knee, while a passenger in the same vehicle was unhurt.

All vehicles were damaged, while traffic was delayed in the area for about an hour and a half.

Police are investigating the incident and asked anyone with information to call 211.
