Serious collision in Hamilton Parish

A motorist was pronounced dead after a collision between a car and a bus on North Shore Road in Hamilton Parish, police have confirmed.

The crash happened shortly before 2pm just east of the Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo.

According to a police spokesman, a man driving the car and several passengers on the Department of Public Transportation bus were taken to hospital for treatment to injuries sustained in the collision.

The spokesman said: “Sadly, the motor car driver was pronounced dead a short time later.

“The Bermuda Police Service offer sincere condolences to the family of the deceased.

“We are aware that images of the collision scene with the motor car driver still inside the vehicle are now being circulated on social media. We are appealing for you to not forward these images on should you receive them.”

The road was closed to all traffic for approximately four hours while the collision scene was forensically processed.

An investigation into the crash has begun.
