Residents have been advised about several road traffic restrictions scheduled for Bermuda Day and next week.

The Ministry of Public Works and Environment noted that races and the parade will run from 7.30am tomorrow.

It said: “These events include the Bermuda Half-Marathon Derby, the junior classic run, and the Bermuda Day Parade.

“To ensure the safety of participants and spectators, extensive road closures and traffic diversions will be in effect across the island during these times.”

The ministry added: “Also on Bermuda Day, the Sinclair Packwood Memorial Race will be held between 8am and 10am, starting in St George's and concluding in the City of Hamilton.

“All roads along the race route will be closed to vehicular traffic for the duration of the event.

“Motorists are urged to follow the directions of police officers and race marshals at all times.”

Additionally, Palmetto Road beneath the Glebe Road bridge in Pembroke will be closed in one lane to facilitate bridge repair works next week.

The closure will run from May 26 to 30 between 9am and 4pm daily.

“Representatives of Sunrise Construction Ltd will direct traffic and motorists should expect delays and consider alternate routes via Marsh Folly Road and Bishop Spencer Road,” the ministry said.
