Police to increase parking enforcement

Police have vowed to penalise those who violate parking restrictions on Frog Lane, Devonshire and Pitts Bay Road in Pembroke more consistently.

A spokesman said drivers who park illegally and on the sidewalk in these areas “will be subject to ongoing enforcement and ticketing, especially during events held at nearby venues”.

He added: “We acknowledge past concerns raised about inconsistency in how parking infractions in these areas have been handled.

“The Bermuda Police Service take such feedback seriously and are committed to applying traffic regulations fairly and uniformly not only at these two locations, but across the island.”

The spokesman said that, effective immediately, officers will monitor and enforce parking restrictions during public events to “ensure public safety, maintain access for emergency vehicles and reduce congestion”.
