Traffic warnings for National Heroes Weekend events
Two big events for the upcoming National Heroes Weekend will obstruct traffic around Hamilton, the Ministry of Public Works and Environment said today.
Dutton Avenue will be closed at noon on June 14 to prepare for the J’Ouvert AM procession.
The event is due to take place around Bernard Park on June 16 from 2.30am to 8am, with a parade procession starting at 7am.
The parade is expected to affect Marsh Folly Road, Cedar Avenue, Angle Street and North Street alongside Dutton Avenue in Pembroke.
The Revel De Road carnival procession will take place that day between 12.30pm and 7pm.
The event will start in City Hall Car Park and do two laps before settling in Bernard Park.
The route will include Wesley Street, Victoria Street, Cedar Avenue, Dutton Avenue, Marsh Folly Road and North Street.
Dutton Avenue will be reopened at 10pm on June 16 after the roads have been cleaned.
Parking will not be allowed in the area during its closure.
Motorists were encouraged to plan their travel routes to avoid the events.
They were also urged to comply with directions from police and traffic marshals who will manage traffic on the scene.
Any questions regarding the events should be directed to Keidric Smith on 331-6008.
