A traffic collision on South Road pulled down utility lines in Warwick this afternoon — although no power outages are believed to have occurred as a result.

Area residents reported loss of internet, however.

A member of the public told The Royal Gazette that a truck with a small crane appeared to have crashed through bushes and over an embankment opposite the Bermudiana Beach property.

She said overhead cables had been pulled down and that traffic at the scene was backing up.

The Bermuda Police Service stated on social media: “A truck has struck a utility pole near the junction of Dunscome Road and South Road, Warwick, causing the roadway to be blocked.

“Police officers are on scene. Traffic diversions are in place at Dunscome Road as well as Cobbs Hill.

“Where possible, please use alternative routes to get to your destinations.”
