Flights to a Caribbean island from eastern US cities will be soon be offered by BermudAir, the airline announced today.

Services will run from Boston and Baltimore to Anguilla, a British Overseas Territory, starting on December 19.

The Bermudian-based airline announced the launch of AnguillAir, a new brand under its umbrella, which the company said marked its first major expansion beyond Bermuda’s skies.

The flights will operate during the winter season and the updated schedule on the carrier’s growing list of destinations will result in the suspension of its service between Bermuda and Providence, Rhode Island.

It will also result in the airline’s Bermuda-Fort Lauderdale route being winter-only flights.

BermudAir said the “powerful connectivity” to Anguilla was driven by the carrier’s island hospitality and its vision “to link island communities in meaningful and lasting ways”.

Adam Scott, the founder and chief executive of BermudAir, added: “This is more than a new route — it’s a reflection of what BermudAir was built to do — strengthen island connections, deliver extraordinary service and create lasting economic value for Bermuda and beyond.

“We’re proud that, because of the support of Bermudians and the growth in tourism demand, we are now able to extend our reach and share our island hospitality with Anguilla.”

Jose Vanterpool, Anguilla’s Minister of Infrastructure, said the move will be a “crucial first step” for the island.

He said the flights to Clayton J Lloyd International Airport marked a pivotal moment for Anguilla’s economic future.

Mr Vanterpool said: “To support long-term, sustainable growth, we are pursuing a phased, demand-driven expansion plan, which includes extending the runway to accommodate larger aircraft and increased passenger and cargo volumes.”

Cardigan Connor, the island’s Minister of Tourism, added: “BermudAir’s new direct flights from key US markets — Boston and Baltimore — constitute a significant advancement for our tourism industry.

“As our accommodation offerings grow, reliable and convenient air access from these strategic gateways is essential to maintaining momentum and further developing Anguilla as a premier destination”.

The airline said Anguilla is known for its pristine beaches, boutique resorts and exclusive atmosphere.

A newly-branded aircraft will carry the AnguillAir name, operating as part of the company’s broader vision.

BermudAir said the new brand represents the first step in a wider strategy to innovate and grow in what it hopes will become the beginning of a new chapter in its long-term growth trajectory.
