City roadworks set to continue for next two weeks

The Corporation of Hamilton has provided an update on roadworks on King Street.

Work in the area was paused as of yesterday to allow for adjusted access in and around the site.

Access to Happy Valley via Dundonald and King Street North has been restored but no left turn from Happy Valley to King Street is permitted.

Access to King Street via Victoria Street remains closed until further notice.

King Street between Victoria and Church streets will remain local access only until Wednesday, when paving resumes and the area will be closed to all vehicular traffic.

Also on Wednesday, resurfacing will begin at the junction of King Street and Victoria Street’s southbound lane, expected to take approximately two days.

Work will then shift to the northbound lane, also requiring about two days. All work is anticipated to be completed by July 23.

During this time, there will be no through access on this section of King Street.

A corporation spokeswoman said: “We know how challenging this has been for those who live, work or travel through this area.

“We are working closely with the contractor to complete the project as quickly and efficiently as possible. Our team is also continuing direct outreach to affected businesses to ensure ongoing communication.”
