The Government has called on the public to provide feedback on a proposal to improve a public boat ramp on Kindley Field Road.

The Ministry of Public Works and Environment intends to revitalise the ramp, located near Stonecrusher Corner in St George’s, through construction works to improve safety and usability.

A spokesman said: “The proposed upgrades include restoring the launch surface and installing a section of concrete designed to allow vehicle access while helping to reduce surface water run-off onto Kindley Field Road.

“Landscaping improvements will be included to improve the area's overall look and feel and better integrate the site with its natural surroundings.

“This project supports the site's ongoing use for boating activities and community events while maintaining a focus on durability, environmental responsibility and public access.”

The spokesman said that as part of the planning process, the ministry was looking for input from residents about the designs and any additional considerations that should be taken into consideration.

The consultation period began on July 24 and is scheduled to conclude on August 7.

Residents are encouraged to visit forum.gov.bm to view the design drawings and submit their feedback online.

Members of the public can also provide input in-person through a public access station in the Department of Parks, located on the ground floor of Global House at 43 Church Street in Hamilton.

The office is open between 9am and 4.30pm Monday through Friday for those who wish to review the plans and complete a feedback form.

“Public input will help guide the final design decisions and ensure the project reflects the needs and expectations of the community,” the spokesman added.

Plans to revitalise the Stonecrusher boat ramp were submitted in late 2023, while an identical plan for the site was given the green light by the Development Applications Board in 2019.

According to a request for proposal published late last year, the ministry was seeking “prospective proponents” interested in submitting proposals for the St George’s site.
