Bacchanal procession to affect weekend traffic
A colourful fixture of the Cup Match holiday will affect traffic in Devonshire and Pembroke this weekend.
The Bacchanal Run will require traffic controls and road closures for the procession, which goes from 7am to 9.30pm on Saturday.
The Ministry of Public Works and Environment said the route will proceed north on Frog Lane in Devonshire, then west on Palmetto Road and Marsh Folly Road on to Dutton Avenue to finish at Bernard Park in Pembroke.
Frog Lane will be closed from 7am while Dutton Avenue will be closed to traffic from 9am on Saturday. A spokesman said both roads will remain closed until noon on Sunday.
Directions will be given by traffic marshals and police officers along the route. Residents will be provided access where necessary.
A lane closure is set for Pitts Bay Road in Pembroke for August 11 and 12 for the drilling of testing holes in the road.
Drivers were advised to use detour routes via Woodbourne Avenue and Rosemount Avenue.
Work will proceed from 7.30am to 4pm, with staff from Invisible Trenching Ltd operating signs, cones and traffic lights.
