Route 10, 11 buses detoured during Flatts roadworks

Temporary detours will be in effect for two bus routes from Monday because of road works on North Shore Road, the Department of Public Transportation warned.

Buses on Routes 10 and 11 travelling east on North Shore Road will detour through Harrington Sound Road.

They will then follow Route 3 and resume their normal course at the Blue Hole Hill roundabout.

Route 10 and 11 buses inbound to Hamilton will detour onto Wilkinson Avenue, where they will follow Route 3 and rejoin their regular routes in Flatts Village.

A shuttle bus will operate in a loop between Blue Hole Hill and Old Road near Burchall’s Cove to help passengers affected by the detour.

The detours and shuttles will remain in effect until North Shore Road has been cleared for bus passage.

The DPT said that North Shore Road will be temporarily open to buses today and remain accessible over the weekend for normal service on routes 10 and 11.

From Monday, roadworks between the Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo and Bethel AME Church will recommence, meaning the detours will take effect.

Construction will shift towards Flatts as the project progresses, at which point all affected buses will be rerouted through Store Hill and Harrington Sound Road.

A DPT spokeswoman said that the department anticipated several detours and shuttle operations because of rain forecasts throughout the week.
