Road closure expected in Smith’s

A section of road in Smith’s will be closed to traffic for about one week, the Ministry of Public Works and Environment announced.

A spokesman said workers would begin paving the eastbound lane of Middle Road, from Store Hill to Verdmont Road, on Tuesday.

The job will be followed by a single-lane closure between Verdmont Road and North Shore Road until September 19.

Work will proceed on weekdays between 7.30am and 6pm, with ministry representatives managing traffic with signs and barricades.

Motorists will be rerouted via Store Hill on to North Shore and Verdmont Roads during the works.

Drivers should continue to detour or expect delays along Middle Road during the lane closure.

Questions should be directed to principal highways engineer Tina Beer-Searle on 501-3044.
