Two-way traffic has resumed on a main road after it was constrained to a single lane for emergency repair works, the Ministry of Public Works and Environment announced today.

Harbour Road between Lover’s Lane and Chapel Lane in Paget ended its lane closure after the measure was imposed in the wake of a two-vehicle collision on Friday.

Many motorists decried the gridlock caused by the closure as excess traffic moved to Middle Road and caused early-morning delays.

Trucks bearing IN, HA, and HC licences, with the exception of garbage trucks, were prohibited from driving on the affected stretch of road.

The ban led to one truck driver claiming that his business had been hindered.

The closure came after another Harbour Road incident near the start of the month, when a car crashed into a telephone pole and led to a day of traffic chaos.
