Flights forced to make medical diversions to Bermuda
A Frontier Airlines flight departed the island today after diverting to LF Wade International Airport with a sick passenger last night.
According to a Skyport spokeswoman, Frontier Airlines flight 4462, which was heading from Philadelphia to San Juan, Puerto Rico, arrived at 11.45pm with 193 passengers and six crew members for a medical diversion involving a female passenger.
Emergency medical technicians met the aircraft and took her to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.
Because the crew had timed out after exceeding their legal maximum number of duty hours, the airline brought in relief crew.
The passengers got food and beverages while they waited overnight, and the flight departed for San Juan at 11.48am today.
On the same night, Caribbean Airlines flight 525, en route from New York JFK to Port of Spain, Trinidad, landed in Bermuda at 7.28pm with 162 passengers and six crew for another medical diversion involving a female passenger.
EMTs met and treated the passenger before transporting her to KEMH.
The aircraft refuelled and departed for Port of Spain at 10:01pm.
