A section of North Shore Road in Devonshire is closed to all traffic today, the Ministry of Public Works and Environment announced this morning.
A spokeswoman said the emergency closure near Tynes Bay is in effect from Barkers Hill roundabout to Dock Hill roundabout so a crane can be safety lifted from the area.
Work will take place from 9.30am to 1pm and representatives from Island Construction will direct traffic in the area using barricades, signs and cones.
Motorists should detour via Palmetto Road to avoid the closure.
The ministry apologised for any inconvenience.
Questions can be directed to Allan DeSilva of Island Construction at 236-3011.
